The Bright Spots Summit convened national organizations working on democracy with local partners from all over the country committed to full participation in particular places. Summit programming included a series of targeted discussions and strategic conversations with colleagues working to improve democracy in communities across the country. It was laser focused on developing collaborative approaches for overcoming a common barrier that has emerged in shared endeavors between all partners: bridging the disconnect between local civic leadership and national resources. There were over 100 attendees, and many of the Baltimore Votes coalition partners hosted panel discussions, led training sessions, and gave ten minute “Spark Talks”. There were local leaders from Takoma Park to Texas, corporate partners such as AirBnB, Facebook, Google, and Starbucks, and national partners such as Campus Vote Project and Vote Together.
